I love thick paint. I sometimes lay it on so thick

I love thick paint. I sometimes lay it on so thick it takes a few days to dry all the way through. It’s tricky getting my ideas down when wet paint doesn’t want to cooperate with how fast I like to move. I still have a few galleries ask with a chuckle “Christy are the paintings still wet?”

I used @goldenpaints heavy body acrylics in Cadmium Yellow Dark to get the thick yellow paint on the #vwvan

Today I finished a pink tandem bike on a 36x60. I got some color inspiration from #thecolonypalmbeach . A favorite place to visit. I used flower cutouts and I used the wood strut covered in bright pink paint to create vertical lines across the painting. Oh!! and the splats were so fun. Life is a dream when you have paint days like this.

I used an 8x8 wood panel to lay down the floral va

I used an 8x8 wood panel to lay down the floral vase. I started with the traditional glass vase and thought it needed color so I used ultramarine blue for the first layer on the 8x8 panel then decided to put down the second layer in teal.

I did some finger painting in the flowers today. There is nothing like building up layers with your hands. I like getting the paint nice and thick.

I was covered in paint today from head to toe. It was even in my hair.
.
I used my son’s origami paper to cut out some of the shapes I put in the flowers. I sometimes use his origami creations in my work.

I just did a surfboard painting where I used one of his airplanes. If you want to look it’s a few reels back.

I like to keep the painting playful while still keeping composure. My paintings are really a reflection of myself. Can you tell?
